And then there were three

Hello all.

Of late, I have been offered the distinct honor of a place in the oh-so-hallowed order of the Ubiquitous Academicians, on account of my continual disability to post to Zealous Couch Potatoes, which I had until now called my blogging home. Let it be known that I hold no animosity toward Zealous Couch Potatoes, or its couch potato-in-chief, the illustrious Michael Allison, but, due to what appears to be a technical error, I can post there no longer.

I found myself complaining about this deplorable state of blog-homelessness to Ethan, who, as I’m sure you all know, is the co-owner of this blog, and he made the kind offer of a seat here. Drinks were not shared, politicians were not bribed, wars were not fought, and here I am.

Ethan and Nick forced be to sign a solemn oath that I would uphold the Ubiquitous Academicians standard of clever, intellectual blog posts, and I shall try as hard as possible to uphold this. I am certainly looking forward to my hopefully long and undoubtedly interesting tenure here.

I realize this post is rather brief, but I encourage you, the devoted reader, to await further material from both myself and my esteemed co-authors.

In the beginning of the end…

Well, yes, my track record in regards to blogging is rather unfortunate. I have frequently abandoned my previous blogs. However, you should do well to trust that I shall persevere in this particular effort. You see, in this blog I plan to flaunt my intelligence on many a subject.

I love flaunting my intelligence.

So, trust that my love of said activity will enable me to continue on through fire, flame and other such hazardous, redundant elements.

As for the specifics of this blog, well, it rather lacks any specifics. Though our syllabus may cover the particulars of politics, RPGs, and technology, I have little doubt that we will not be contained by such concrete guidelines.

I suppose you want to know something about me … no, probability dictates that you most likely do not, but let’s suppose, just for this moment, that you desire a profile of that which pertains to me.

I tend to speak and think of myself as a wayward wanderer of the vast quantity of knowledge housed within the great resources of literature and the internet. However my pursuit of knowledge, though a prime focus of my existence, takes a place besides other activities such as video gaming, programming, and the playing of RPGs. Of course, any desire to seek out knowledge should be accompanied by an equal desire to expel that knowledge which one already possesses.

That’s where writing comes into play.

My love of writing is perhaps rivaled only by my afore mentioned fondness for the flaunting of knowledge. God (or gods (or lack of god (or lack of gods))) be blessed that the two activities seem so utterly fit for each other.

I fashion myself somewhat of an amateur journalist, really. Though I enjoy writing in a number of different contexts and genres, journalism is the area in which I attempt to tune my skills to the utmost degree. Currently I write for Game-Overdrive.com (a video game journalism resource as the title clearly suggests), but I hope to add the blog which this post resides within to my repertoire of writing spaces.

That said, let a long and prosperous blogging dynasty filled with many a deep and thought-provoking comment begin.

Yes, I quoted the Bible. I apologize.

And so it begins. I guess I shouldn’t have agreed to this, seeing as how Nick is sitting next to me extolling the virtues of the Japanese language; everyone knows Latin is by far the more intellectual of the pair.

As is the case with the two of us, as a whole.

Now that I have had my digs on my co-author, it’s time to make a proper introduction:

I’m Ethan. I write intellectual blog posts in my spare time. After a time, this becomes somewhat monotonous; thus, I have teamed up with my good friend and rival Nick, to create and maintain this collection of our thought-provoking, random or just downright time-wasting essays and tidbits on the issues of the universe.

Generally, we’ll confine (read: I’ll confine) the posts to subjects that pertain to me as an individual, such as my personal interests and activities, politics and events that do or may affect me, and other topics that I feel deserve my scholarly attention.

You probably consider me vain; indeed, the picture I paint of myself is nothing more than a portrait of hubris itself. However, I shall give you a brief sketch of myself as an individual, merely for the sake of normalcy.

I tend to spend my days wrapped up in some form of writing, whether fictional, biographical, historical, humorous or just plain interesting. I spend substantially less time on the internet than my co-author – I’m no stranger here, however. If I’m not reading, I’m participating in such activities as hiking, biking, swimming, boating, skiing, snowshoeing – in short, anything outdoors. I do spend a sizeable portion of my time involved with RPGs, but rarely video games. Indeed, were you to ask me the difference between a PSU and a GPU (two terms Nick just threw at me), I would stare at you in the manner of a redneck asked to explain the Doppler Effect.

Indeed, this introductory post has meandered on to its limit; I shall desist here, and occupy more of your time at a later date, with another post filled with my particular brand of thoughtful posting.
