About Ethan

When I sat down to write this, my brain automatically began a list of my interests and activities. As I started to mindlessly typing these persona building blocks that make up me, I realized I was creating probably the lamest profile anyone has ever seen. So I started over, and wrote what you’re reading now.

Basically, my name is Ethan. I’ve loved writing ever since I learned to read; it has always been my highest goal. I have yet to be published in anything beyond rather anonymous venues around the internet, by my day will come. As Hilaire Belloc quipped in On His Books, “When I am dead, I hope it may be said: ‘His sins were scarlet, but his books were read.*’”

I have been friends with my co-author, Nicholas, for several years now. We often start small projects together, but usually just for the fun of brainstorming. This is one of the few that we have followed up on, however. Don’t let me give you the impression that I am fickle, or undetermined; in actuality, I am just the opposite.

A few things I number among my common activities include: Pen art. I drew the book logo for this blog, and Nick – just to say he helped – messed with it in Photoshop. I often draw small comics, and other pen and ink sketches. I have fenced for several years now. Indeed, Nicholas and I met while participating in a regional tournament. I am also a determined outdoorsman, and can often be found hiking a mountain, swimming or canoeing in a pond, or climbing a rock wall. I am outdoors in all seasons, and in all weather. Nothing can stop me; I simply enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells too much.

When I’m not participating in some outdoor activity, I can usually be found reading a book (usually fiction or biography), writing an essay (on anything whatsoever), reading blogs and other tidbits on the web, or hanging out with some of my friends.

I think this will be sufficient for now; if in the future I decide to tell a bit more about myself, I shall. It is highly improbably, however.

* In case anyone cares, I have no idea who Hilaire Belloc was. I just found that quote in a Dictionary of Quotations. I like it though!
